BitBullion was created by three entrepreneurs to solve one particular problem: Swiss gold bullion dealers require fiat currency to transact. As an investor holding gold bullion or bitcoin, or both, you may find it beneficial to transact directly into the other asset outside the traditional banking system and crypto exchanges.
Our gold bullion prices are denominated in bitcoin and include a 3.1% premium. Our core values are product innovation, regulatory compliance, and quality of service. BitBullion is a Swiss trademark operated by Gold Point Samuel Grigo – a gold bullion merchant registered in Baar, Switzerland. We operate as principal on our own account and our activity is unregulated.
How we work
Request offer
Contractually, Gold Point Samuel Grigo acts as seller or purchaser of gold bullion against bitcoin. To initiate a gold bullion purchase or sale against bitcoin, you first submit our contact form to request a non-binding offer. We ask you to provide required personal details as well as information about your planned purchase or sale. Due to Swiss value added tax ordinance MWSTV, we only sell and purchase 995+ bars and 900+ coins minted after 1800. Besides bitcoin, we are also able to transact in ethereum (ETH), tether (USDT), and Swiss francs (CHF).
AML/KYC procedure
After reviewing our offer, we ask you to proceed with our AML/KYC procedure. We require a valid passport or Swiss residence card (B/C permit), a document detailing proof of legal address, as well as a document detailing source of funds or proof of acquisition. We perform a name check against Swiss sanction and embargo lists (SECO). We process your data in accordance with Swiss data protection act DSG. According to Swiss anti-money laundering act GwG, we are legally obliged to keep your AML/KYC documentation for a period of 10 years.
Sign offer
After completing our AML/KYC procedure, you sign our offer if you agree with our offer and terms and conditions. In particular, this means that you agree to transact in XAU/BTC based on a future gold price fixing – plus our 3.1% premium.
Advance payment
After signing our offer, as a buyer of gold bullion you first provide us your wallet address, which we screen using blockchain analysis, and you subsequently make advance payment in bitcoin in our wallet as a prerequisite for the pending purchase. As a seller of gold bullion you deliver your bars or coins at our shop Gold Point in Baar (Zug) or Minusio (Ticino), Switzerland, after which your gold bullion is metallurgically tested as a prerequisite for the pending sale.
Gold price fixing
After receiving your advance payment in bitcoin or taking delivery of your gold bullion, we proceed to fix the gold price. Our benchmark for the Zurich gold spot market is the public price reported by Degussa, whereas our benchmark for the bitcoin spot market is the public price reported by Kraken. We derive the equivalent XAU/BTC price, on which basis we calculate our 3.1% premium. What results is the final gold price in bitcoin.
Gold delivery
After the gold price fixing, as a buyer of gold bullion you take delivery of the respective bars or coins within 5 business days at our shop Gold Point in Baar (Zug) or Minusio (Ticino), Switzerland. We do not export gold bullion. Any payment shortfall versus your advance bitcoin payment shall be paid up before delivery. As a seller of gold bullion, you receive payment of the respective bitcoin within 5 business days in your wallet.
